Sporting Maryland FC Returns to the Champions Cup Series for 2023-2024 Season
Glenn Dale, Maryland (September 28, 2023) - Sporting Maryland Futsal Club is proud to announce its return to the Champions Cup Series for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.
Based in Glenn Dale, Maryland, Sporting Maryland Futsal Club is a futsal powerhouse with a storied legacy. Originally founded with a focus on creating a successful men's team, the club swiftly expanded to establish the Sporting Academy, which now enrolls over 300 players annually. Over the years, the club’s commitment to player development has allowed many academy graduates to excel in college soccer, and even represent the U.S. Men's Futsal National Team. Sporting’s journey has taken them to competitions across the United States and Europe, where they have achieved an impressive record of successes including over 50 State Championships, 20 Regional Championships, and 14 National Championships.
The club’s decision to join the Champions Cup Series for the 2023-2024 season was driven by three key factors. Firstly, the series provides the opportunity to work with a standard driven organization, such as United Futsal, that aligns with Sporting’s commitment to supporting the development and awareness of futsal in the United States. Secondly, the opportunity to compete, learn and network with elite clubs and scouts greatly appealed to Sporting, bolstering their ability for growth as a futsal club. Lastly, the exposure and opportunities given to their players to learn and see the game on a national and international level has proven priceless to the individual development of a sporting player.

In preparation for the upcoming season, Sporting has embarked on an intensive training regime. Player evaluations have already taken place, and teams will begin training in November where they will kick-off their season with a rigorous three-day camp. In addition to this, the club conducts weekly training sessions and actively participates in local events as part of their preparation for the start of the season in December.
