2017 World Futsal ChampionshipsThe World Futsal Championships kicked off this Monday at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports. The highly-anticipated event included over 60 teams who were present at the opening ceremony.

“We had a crowded court, a lot of smiles” said Rob Andrews, president of UNITED FUTSAL. “Seeing how many of the teams here have traveled from across the world for a chance to competereminds us of how important our work here is.”

The opening ceremony kicked off with the parading of the teams and included skill challenges for players and coaches. Mickey and Minnie Mouse made a star appearance and took pictures with some of the fans.

The crowd included teams from Brazil, Australia and Bermuda, among others. The first round of matches will kick off August 1st and will follow with over 70 games.
